  1. Got the same deal myself from shoebuy... Wanted to try some mids and could not resist the price.
  2. Nothing sophisticated here, this was my first year umpiring...
  3. I found this post on "Screen Name ???" interesting and have nominated it accordingly for "Post Of The Month June, 2010"
  4. That's the one I used...maybe I have bad e-mail breath...lol
  5. Good deal....Still a bit of a mystery though.. maybe there is something wrong with the school's site... Clearly though this is a bit of a problem and I am not the only one having difficulty.... Oh well...
  6. Red... I will probably try to get in a day early if possible.... Much better all the way around.
  7. wow!... just now? pretty cool since he is working the plate for Strasburg this very moment....
  8. Warren, that had occurred to me, and, of course, it makes total sense.
  9. ROFL!!!!!!:smachhead:
  10. Thanks again for all the insight.... sounds awesome...They have not responded to my e-mail, but, I am looking forward to the Camp.
  11. My FM25TI mask arrived last thursday and I am really, really, pleased. I switched in a traditional harness, and, presto... perfection! The mask is light weight (as you would expect from Titanium)... the double bars are barely noticeable, and, in my humble opinion, the view is easily as good as the Wilson titanium (to me it seems even better). I used the mask for three plates this past weekend and I remain very pleased. As i mentioned above the double bar design is not a problem with the top bars being a non issue and the lower bar of the window being only slightly noticeable. There is at least 1/8 inch more beetween the horizontal view bars and the view window is also 5/8 inch wider accross compared to the Wilson titanium. The mask has a more rounded shape than the Wilson, that, combined with the fact that the viewing area is not as obscured by the bulk of the new vented pads, (which happens with some of the Wilson wraparound pads) really opens up the view. I did order a set of All-Star's replacement tan deerskin pads, but, the vented moisture wicking pads are soft, light and look pretty good. The fabric on the pads takes a bit of getting used to, and, they seem to drag a tiny bit if you are not freshly shaven. This is the same critique one hears about the Diamond Featherweight pads, but, I would suggest that these are considerably better than the Diamond version. I also kind of like the minimal logo markings on the stock pads. I will probably continue to use them for the upcoming summer tourneys as they seem like they will be dry faster and be considerably cooler. Finally....I love the look of the frame design...just my preference, but, I like it. All in all....for me...two big thumbs up for the All-Star FM25TI
  12. Red... Thank you so much! That is a very kind offer, and, assuming this all works out, I will gladly take you up on it. I will let you know as soon as am set. BTW... Can you tell me how far away the airport is time wise? There is a flight I can take that would arrive at 1:30 pm and i want to know if that is enough time to get there on thursday, or, if i need to either come in a day early, or red-ey it and arrive about 7am on thurs.
  13. BTW.. I was notified this morning that I have been selected to work the District PONY Tourney over 4th of July Weekend. I am pretty amazed at the opportunities i have gotten in my first year....They may just be suffering from a severe shortage, but. either way, It's very cool.
  14. Thanks for all of your input here Warren....really appreciate it. If I am counting correctly you had 6 sessions in the cage.... very nice. I can see the added value of a couple of those being focussed on check swings etc. Did video come with it? or is that extra? Either way if, it is available I will of course go for it. Two other questions... one, how long did it take you to get from the airport to the hotel when you came in? (i am trying to figure out if i can come in the same day)... two, just curious...What adjustments did Nauert make to your hand positioning in your plate stance?
  15. Warren, This is the list of questions i sent them....I read your summaries but I wanted to fill in some blanks. I have heard that the staff is great ,especially Nauert. Rapuano, Crawford and Gibson too. Also, Do they cover an H.S. applicable stuff (FED etc) and is the schedule on Fri/Sat really 9am-9pm? If so then the camp offers as much instructional time as Evans in a smaller package. This would work better for me as I would only have to take one day off from work. To do Evans I would have to take a whole week which is much harder for me to do these days. 1) Is the instructional staff for 2011 the same as you have listed on the site (i.e. Crawford, Nauert, etc)? 2) Is it possible to come in a day early if necessary? 3) I would be coming from California. Do you typically have students from the West Coast? 4) Your site says that you regularly sell out the camp. Generally speaking, how far in advance do you typically fill the spots? 5) Could you offer a bit more detail as to the daily schedule? How many cage sessions are available, etc.?
  16. I just wrote to them this morning with a few practical questions and then I will see about going. I have heard so much good stuff about this camp that i am willing to take the plunge if it proves to be workable.
  17. I got an e-mail in late Feb. from Hunter re: the facility problem that was hindering the San Bernardino clinic. But, since then, nothing, and I have tried several times. Seems like the clinics are really not much of a priority to them. Bummer, a So Cal venue would have been perfect. Evans clearly is more organized and committed to the clinic program, but, it is hard for me to make the dates he is offering work. oh well... I will figure something out.... At least I know that it is not just me....lol
  18. The dates are really the problem for me with Evans....but it is possible might also be able to swing BBUC in Sacramento in November.
  19. I can see how that would be tough, but, three months seems like a bit much....bummer because I need to make some plans as soon as possible.
  20. Just curious if anybody knows what might be up with the folks at Wendelstedt. I have been trying to get some info on their clinic schedule, materials, etc., and there has been no response to either e-mail or phone messages for three months. In addition their website seems to be static and has not been updated i quite a while. Anybody got any insight here? Thanks....
  21. Lol... I hear ya Finn
  22. the Titanium masks are certainly pro gear... I just prefer the standard profile...
  23. Me too.... I have a low profile that was sent to me as a replacement for a standard that got dented.... But I will wait till yours goes if you like finn...
  24. Well, this is probably for another thread, but, I can't help myself. My FM25TI mask arrived today, switched in a traditional harness, and, presto... perfection! The mask is light weight... the double bars are barely noticeable, and the view is easily as good as the wilson titanium (to me it seems even better). I did order a set of tan deerskin pads as well, but, I plan to use it with the vented pads for this weekends tourney. I'm psyched....
  25. Brian, Thanks so much for your posts on this topic...really, really helpful stuff!
