The unfielded triple play.

A brainteaser for all of you. It is possible to have an unfielded unassisted triple play. Can anyone describe it. No cheating as this is on the net.

I remember this from way back ....not sure if I can remember it though....let me try....

Bases loaded, no out ...

Infield fly, batter is out, .....

one of the runners passes another, 2 outs...

ball hits another runner coming on the way down .... 3 outs ...

Thunder got the usual answer but the bases dont need to be loaded. The play has been around since approximately the second day after the infield fly rule was put in the book heck its even in the HScase book.

In HS you could have three runners miss bases and a dead ball appeal or two illegal players on base and a batting out of order and so on.

Batted ball that rattles around the outfield without anybody touching it.

Three runners simply head for the dugout instead of advancing, thus abandoning their effort to run the bases...three outs!

Maybe not too likely to happen but, then again, neither is the infield fly thing.
