Balk call

Now, I am looking for assistance on a balk. I called one today and I am looking to see if I had it right or if I was being OOO. I realize this may be a HTBT.

R3 and R2, 1 out.

Normal windup for pitcher is to be on the 1B side of the rubber with one foot completely off the side of the rubber and his pivot foot on that same side close to free foot.

Now, he gets on that same side but is about an inch or 2 off and from 3B, appears to be on the rubber. He looks like he is setting up for his normal position on the rubber. Now, he throws over to 3B. In the process, he simply steps his pivot foot towards 1B and spins to throw to 3B instead of stepping backward.

If you can imagine what I described, would you call a balk with the premise of "he is simulating his pitching stance while not on the rubber." Again, I am looking to see if anyone else call it and for what reason. Or, was I being an OOO and should have just let it go and call the out at 3B? Thanks.

He was attempting to decieve the runner. I have a balk as well. Good call.

Sounds like simulating his pitching stance. I gotta say balk.

R we in FED or OBR? If in the windup position under FED a pitcher cannot step and throw to a base, In OBR it is ok to step and throw while in windup position.

Ok now, it's a balk if he moved his pivot foot towards (righty) 1st base.

I would have called a balk. His pivot foot going toward 1B is what caused the infraction. Based on what I understand from your description he has simulated his normal pitching motion.
