HP Umpire Edwin Jimenez ejected Pirates manager Don Kelly (strike three call to Henry Davis; QOCN) in the top of the 8th inning of the #Pirates-#Padres game. With two out and the bases loaded, Pirates batter Davis took a 3-2 fastball from Padres pitcher Robert Suarez for called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the inner edge of home plate and below the hollow beneath the knee (px -0.71, pz 1.46 [sz_bot 1.68 / RAD 1.56 / MOE 1.48]), the call was incorrect.* At the time of the ejection, the Padres were leading, 3-2. The Padres ultimately won the contest, 3-2.

i think mccutchen gave a speech to team about playing better to earn better calls, so looks like skipper is doing his protection routine, on his end of earning the calls a la earl weaver style.. long held beliefs that teams and players are shown favoritism. kind of like the unpopular kid (weird science) getting sent to the principle for putting bubblegum under your seat, while the popular kid only gets a dirty look for the same offense, if if if something like that ever happens or is it just a myth. in other words all officiating people are cheaters, maybe some just worse than others
