Tuesday 11 July we lost a great friend and umpire here in the Coachella Valley of SoCal.  Tom Bonnet passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 65 leaving behind a wife and daughter.  I moved here in 1995 and Tom was already a well established official in many sports including baseball, football and swimming that I can name off the top of my head. The guy had literally just retired from a 30 something year teaching career.  Tom completed this past baseball season in the middle of May and I'm not sure he even knew he had cancer.  But when he did get diagnosed it was already too late and all they could do was try to keep him comfortable.  Tom was an outstanding umpire and an even better man and friend. He will be missed.  CANCER SUCKS!

R.I.P. Tom and condolences to his family and friends.

Again the shortage of Umpires is also hitting Heaven and God is pulling them up there to officiate the Real Big League.
