I just saw this in a D1 game.  I will try to get video when I can.

R2 tries to steal 3rb, BR flies one to F8 that has to come in and try to slide to make the catch.  Ball falls out of his glove onto the ground - so no catch.

R2 rounds (touches) third and then realizing it is a fly ball, pretty much starts back to second at the 3rd base cutout. Gets back maybe 4 feet toward second and then reverses again and starts home to try and score.  To clarify, R2 does a loop at the cutout line and then goes home. R2 doesn't retouch 3rd going back nor coming through again.

I have an appealable play for R2 not retouching 3rd.  if he would have done a loop halfway down the line, I wouldn't. It comes back to the context of the play happening.

What do you think?

It's a little hard to tell from the video when they focus on the runner, and it's pretty close, but it looks to me like he did cross that red line. He'd be out on appeal, imo.

If you're not sure, it's legal.
