NOCSAE chest protectors

Question from a state FED test:

The catcher shall wear a body/chest protector that meets NOCSAE standard at the time of manufacture.  The body/chest protector options are:

A. Traditional chest protector w/ NOCSAE approve pad attached.

B. A compression shirt that has a NOCSAE approved cardiac cavity.

C. A newly manufactured traditional chest protector that meets NOCSAE standard.  (my answer)

D. All of the above

I don't see anything in the rule book other than it has to be marked with NOCSAE logo and approved, but I don't have anything newer than a 2019 case book either.  Just making sure I'm not missing something on compression shirts.

A and C are definitely true.   B may be true, but I don't know of any shirts that have an approved NOCSAE cardiac cavity pad.

If B is true, then D would be your answer.

If B is false, then I agree that C makes the most logical sense but it is technically not fully correct either since A is also true.

I really think D is the correct answer since it has the "NOCSAE approved cardiac cavity" verbiage in B, thereby making it correct - and we know that both A and C are correct already.

I know they make the compression shirts NOCSAE approved over the heart in youth sizes, but I've never seen adult versions.  And........I submitted - C was wrong answer.

Of course they're going to make undershirts and other accessories to bring their gear into compliance! We have to remember, the NOCSAE committee is comprised of representatives of each of the major manufacturers. They aren't going to make a paradigm shift like this unless they're prepared for it. Sure, there's an element of safety in this directive, but there's an element of sneaky sales generation in there too. Any time certification is involved in products, the prices immediately shoot up due to a now-captive market.

The moral of this story is, just like over on this thread –

... don't go looking and scrutinizing for details that will derail your game management.
