VHSL doesn't follow NFHS rules? I'm talking about the strike zone as described by the coach, supposedly quoting the VHSL rule book. This is a bad combination, a coach and a sports writer.

I've been reserving judgement on this article. There are a number of ignorant statements by both the writer and the coach.

VHSL has no baseball rules book and you'd think a reporter would check his facts before publishing such garbage. I believe they are referring to the Policy Handbook which dictates across all sports and competitions including debate and things like that.

This reporter should be an umpire where ever he was he could see that the pitches being called strikes were 3-4 INCHES off the plate... Sounds like aggressive calling of strikes to me.

I had originally written a long diatribe about this article but chose to delete it.

Truly a bad combination. And another case of a reporter using his bully pulpit to whine about his team losing and blaming the umpire.
