Sunday's Midwest-West game was suspended due to lightning in the top of the fifth with one out and West ahead 6 - 0. My reading of the rules would be if they could not continue that night it would be a called regulation game with West the winner. But LL resumed the game Monday. What gives? Hawaii was home.

Are you reading the tournament rules?

Quote

In the case of tournaments involving more than one team advancing out of pool play into a playoff, the playoff format may be single- or double elimination, at the discretion of the tournament director. However, if the published format calls for double-elimination, and the tournament director subsequently wishes for it to revert to single-elimination because of delays caused by weather, etc., this can only be approved by the Tournament Committee in Williamsport.

Yes, the only change from regular season to tournament is there is no reversion if the visiting team ties or takes the lead. That is not what happened but I think they made a judgement that if they followed the rule and continued the game that day after the lightning threat or called the game at curfew or when they decided they couldn't resume at that field both teams would be left waiting at the field and miss the MLB game. Further research dug up this: https://www.pennlive.com/little-league-world-series/2019/08/little-league-world-series-what-happens-when-a-game-is-suspended-hawaii-new-jersey-weigh-in.html.

Technically LL violated it's rules but both teams were ok with it so no protest, no problem.
