There are 2 outs with a player on first. The player attempts to steal second base but is thrown out. Is the batter considered out or does he continue his at bat or get a new at bat once his team is back up?

From the rule book:

5.04 Batting
(a) Batting Order

(3) The first batter in each inning after the first inning shall
be the player whose name follows that of the last player
who legally completed his time at bat in the preceding
inning.

(c) Completing Time at Bat
A batter has legally completed his time at bat when he is put out or
becomes a runner.
