Pitched ball gets trapped by me

18U Baseball, OBR, R2, less than 2 outs, I'm PU.

F1 pitches, R2 starts to steal 3rd, ball hits the dirt just beyond the plate, F2 misses the ball and it ends up between my left arm and my CP though just pinned there by the force of the ball not trapped in my equipment or in my shirt. F2 turns around looking for the ball and as I stand up and take a step back the ball drops from its spot. I ruled Ball on the pitch and UI and made R2 return to 2nd. 

Did I get this right?

You got it wrong.

 

First, I don't think it was lodged, since it fell to the ground.  So, I would leave it live. 

Second, if it doesn't fall to the ground, it is lodged -- and a one base award.  Put R2 at third.

Isn't there a manual interpretation for OBR that this is nothing as long as the ball is immediately let go (or drops)?

It didn't fall immediately.  Lodged.

OBR provides the caveat "...and remains out of play" with every instance of a lodged ball in umpire or catcher mask or paraphernalia....5.06©(7) CMT

And just how long a time period is that? e.g. 10 Seconds is a two base advance.

Lodged means it's in the equipment (stuck in the bars of the mask, inside the coat / protector / ball bag, etc.

 

As I read the play, it's more like an umpire handling a live ball -- he should drop it -- and he did in the OP.

 

(I do agree with you that *IF* it is lodged, the fact that it falls out later is irrelevant.)

If the delay hinders the catcher it's lodged.
