Runner on 2nd, runner on 1st, and batter. batter hits to outfield, runner on 2nd hits 3rd goes home. Runner on first hits 2nd, misses 3rd, goes home. Batter hits 1st, 2nd, 3rd, home. Fielding team appeals and touches 3rd. Ump agrees and calls 2 outs 1 for missing and then the batter for passing up runner that missed 3rd.  Was this the correct call?

Not the correct call.  Only R1 should have been out.

'passing a runner' pertains to the actual physical act of a following runner overtaking a preceding runner

Sounds like someone went to the Pink Floyd umpire clinic

"We don't need no education!"

They actually asked me to be an instructor at that clinic. Was busy that week, though. :) I heard Carl Callsafew scored a 98% on the written final.
