With R2 stealing I’ve got catchers interference. (ball was hit to F4 who threw to F3 for the apparent out)

Does R2 keep 3rd or does he have to go back.

Thanks

So this isn't a choice issue?

For instance if we have a runner coming home (because of the hit) on a CI and the BR is out at 1st... Then the MGR can pick to have the out and run or to have BR at 1st and runner back at 3rd.

It is a choice issue.  But the choices are the play (BR out, R2 now at third) or the penalty (BR at first, R2 now at third).  You'd have to reach pretty hard to find a situation where the former is better, but if the coach wants it, the coach gets it.

Probably a better question I should have asked regarding CI would be what if we had a foul ball or no contact at all and the runner was stealing?  Where does R2 go now?  Is it still a choice?

CI is always a choice for the offense when all runners including the BR do not advance.

So with a foul ball CI scenario, the offense has the choice of allowing the result (foul ball, runner returns) or take the CI penalty (Batter awarded 1B and R2 awarded 3B because he was attempting to advance on the pitch when CI occurred)

With no contact (just CI and swing through), then offense has same choices. Result of the play or enforce the award for CI (batter to 1B and R2 to 3B because he was stealing on the play)
