One thing we spend a lot of time discussing is working in the slot. We will help you find the slot, proper head height and body lean, and guides to look for that will ensure you're in the slot on every pitch. 

These are 2 screen shots of videos we found on line of umpires who were wearing video cameras behind the plate. By posting these we do not intend to criticize either umpire. We don't even know who they are. We just see several take-aways to point out.

Notice the difference in the view. The first shot the umpire can only see about half the plate. The second shot the umpire can see every inch of the zone and beyond.

The first photo the umpire's head height it too low. Not being able to see leads to guessing. The second photo shows the umpire's head height is just about perfect. This umpire has an unobstructed view of the entire zone which will lead to a much more consistent zone throughout the game.

This was my biggest takeaway from the clinic last year. Jason and his crew moved me further into the slot and adjusted my heel-toe. Made a huge difference in my plate work. I'm hoping to continue to refine it this year.
