Yup, this is the one that scares the cajoles out of me as a fervent TM wearer. I recently got feedback and encouragement to move up to adult, wooden-bat league baseball, and an encounter with a broken bat is starting to gnaw at my conscience.

Didn't think of it when I was a catcher, but sure do now.

You know, my biggest fear is one of these kids in 12u and up swinging aluminum bats lets go and comes back and gets me in the mask. I have had them hit me in the shin, forearm, and the catchers (typically same place as I do). I've only seen one time where an aluminum bat has shattered into 2 pieces, and thank God no one was hit, that went halfway to the mound. I don't even want to think of doing wood bat tourneys.

I did a midget (age group, not short people) AAA tournament this weekend with wooden bats and there were about five or six broken bats in three games. Nothing that broke clean off, but enough that I'm really considering picking up a HSM.
