The perfect bounce back

Odd play in a JV game last night.  R1 and no outs.  Slow grounder to F6 and he sails his throw to F3.  The ball hits the stone wall on the dugout and bounces right back to F3 and the BR barely beats the F3 to the bag.  It really threw me off for some reason as I have been over thinking it, clearly if F3 gets back to the bag first the BR is out.  This whole play just threw my thinking out of whack as the over throw and bounce happened pretty fast.

On a positive note, the game lasted 1:28 and the HTHC kept me supplied with plenty of baseballs.  I started the game with 6 baseballs and finished with 4.  Most coaches give you two and then hold up the game digging around for more.

Was the stone wall of the dugout discussed during the pre-game meeting?    I assume it was "in play" since you allowed all of this. 

In 99% of my games, the stone wall of the dugout is OUT of play........that's why I ask.  

I think your scenario would throw me off as well if I wasn't expecting it.  I can empathize with you.

The face of the dugout is out of play? ​Why would it be any different than hitting the fence and bouncing back?

I think one poster means the outside wall (adjacent to the field) and the other means the wall inside the dugout

Many dugouts have walls outside in-play you know..

Yes Rich, the face of the dugout.  It was like that in Utah and now here in Iowa too, I'm finding out.

This wall was in play.  All legal, just a strange bounce that threw me off.  Check swings will throw me off sometimes too.
