I was already told I can work varsity next season and maybe even a few plates. *slides sunglasses on*

This will, however, cause some tension among the seniors...

Are you saying that you could umpire your own school's games? Yup. The guy in charge of our high school umpires quit the association without a word other than "Bye, guys." So now they're scrambling around trying to get umpires for everything and there's only eight of us, seven next spring because one guy's taking a season off for paternity reasons. Basically our association is about to completely fold and collapse and I wind up getting the small benefit.

Do not umpire your own schools games, if your still attending school there.

Never umpire games of schools where you have kids attending.

It is a set up for disaster.

It is a conflict of interest that needs to be avoided.

That's part of the reason they were so cautious about me doing it last year but nobody actually found much problem with it. Then again I was attending the middle school and not the actual high school. If it starts to cause problems they'll yank me but the association is truly in a pitifully desperate situation right now. I have exactly zero school loyalty and because of how rapidly we're losing staff, they have to put me in at least some of those games. There's simply not enough umpires to go around, especially with a new games-per-week limit and requirement of at least two umpires (really they need/want three), AND usually the JV and V teams from another town will come and they'll play on the same night or JV will play West Juneau and V will play East Juneau at the same time.

I'm a rookie to hs baseball just got carded last year. And work in Morris county so I don't get many games in sussex except for Lenape or hopactcong.

I do HS all along the route 80 and route 23 corridors along with Sussex county. So many schools along those two routes. I'm sure we'll run into each other sooner or later. Did a 18u wood bat game about a month ago at Hopactcong HS...What a disgrace that field is.

yeah "homerdome" haha  look on your schedule and tell me who you working with on 5/8

Has this been hijacked into a NJ thread?

sure why not haha....Kevin you do any njsab 4th july tourney games?

My schedule started to come out end of October and now almost full. Subject to change based on weather but many nj umpires already answered as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yep. I've got games coming in quickly. Not thrilled with the Varsity/Sub Varsity mix, but it is what it is, and I'm sure weather and other factors will change the schedule a lot before April rolls around. @mhoffman - I don't think I've ever worked with you. How is that possible?

@Richvee @mhoffman - Rich you're not missing much!

just kidding, of course - Matt's a rising star

Baseball schedule!!!!!!

We are still looking for Basketball Schedules and assignments and season starts next week.

Actually have my first HS Basketball game Friday Night.

Girls JV game with a great partner who I have worked Baseball and Football with.

He even worked the State Football 2A Championship game last Friday :notworthy:

NFHS Rules test passed.

State Online Clinic taken and passed.

New Uniform ready to go.

Whisle Ready

Mechanics studied and coached on by friend.

Signals down.

Ready to step on the court and have some fun, inside, with a roof over my head on a nice warm basketball court.

9 degrees this morning and we had snow a few days ago.

Guess I will have to update my game count to include Baseball, Football and now Basketball.

On second thought, I don't need game counts to tell me what I have done anymore.

Just need to know I am having fun regardless of the sport being officiated.

Will look at Soccer and Volleyball next year :hi5:

Lot of people are trying to get me to do soccer and football...I have never played a single ounce of soccer in my life so I dont know how well that would go over haha...football would be fun since I know the game very well just need to know the mechanics of officiating it and learn that side but I would enjoy that....volleyball idk lot of umpires are going that way because there is no rain outs in fall or spring seasons......somebody on this board keeps poking fun at my 13 yr aau games that take longer then his middle school vb games! haha

Basketball now thats something I would get into...did I play basketball in hs no but I think that would be enjoyable on the middle school/frosh levels for me....jv maybe once I get comfortable and varsity no shot haha
