This High School Year has been one I wont soon forget. I worked my first High School tournament Final(Loara Tournament), I worked Nine 3 Man High School games(Loara Tournament Final, 4 Trinity League 3 man, and 4 Playoff games), I was selected(But did not get to work. We only got 1 Semi Final as a unit and that goes to the Finals Crew) to my First High School Semi Final Crew, I was selected to work a 4 man All Star game(1st Base Pacific Coast League v. Freeway League), and yesterday morning before the All Star Game, I found out I got Selected into the Junior College Mentor Program. I am about as happy as I can be with my progress so far this year. And we are only half way done.

P.S. Happy Fathers Day to all of you Fathers out there. I toast you all.

Congratulations on being selected to the mentor program. That is fantastic. Have been a member of SCCUA and, if selected, you will be honored to be able to see your name in their umpiring roster. It's an unbelievable stable of umpires.

Congrats!  Can you tell us a little about the Mentor Program?  Will be you be mentoring JC guys, or they you, or something altogether different?

You have to go through a mentor program to get into JC Baseball. We will be evaluated in a Double Header, 1 plate and 1 base. The people evaluating us are Division 1 College Umpires. I think it takes a month or so until we find out. If we don't get in we will be given things to work on and then we will come back the next year. If we get in, we are on probation. We are then assigned a mentor and we work closely with them to ensure we get to stick around. I don't know all of this for sure. I am just going off what I have heard. The only think I know for sure is we will be evaluated in 2 weeks.
