Working large local tournament in 8th of 10 games in two days. I have the plate in 3-0 game bottom 3rd. VT F1 picks off R3. Right handed F1 had good move and was right on the edge of a direct step but it looked good to me and BU. HT HC comes running out to BU wanting a balk. Partner clearly tells him it was a legal move. HC then comes to me. I again told him I had a legal move and that judgment was not open for discussion. HC starts to walk away then turns around and starts again. I put up the stop sign and told him again that we did not have a balk and we were not going to discuss it any more. I am not sure what the next syllable out of his mouth was but it was the last one I heard since I drowned him out with the "You're gone!"

Working with a college guy and he said it was handled well. Game was getting really ugly with lots of yapping from both sides. Actually seamed to calm down after the ejection and the kids could play ball without the coaches yelling after every play.

Sounds good to me.  Once you put up the stop sign and give him the final warning, you look soft if you let him continue.  Sounds like the EJ had the desired effect too.

Here is what I don't understand.

kid gets picked off

You don't call balk

Your partner does not call a balk

The coach comes out why?

Does he really think you are going to say well since you did not like the call we will change it?

I wonder if he got a ump to change his call like this

or

He is just a complete fool and has no clue that the call is not going to change

By the middle of the 8th game of 10 in 2 days, I'd be throwing Mother Theresa out.

I've often wondered the same thing................because lets talk about the last time I changed a call because a coach didn't like it......
