I know, I know.... This is a baseball forum, but I have to get this off my chest.

Last night I went to the ASU/UCLA Softball game in Tempe, AZ. My buddy has 2nd row seats right behind the ASU Dugout (3B Side) so you could see and hear everything....

U3 yells "Dead!", "Dead!", Dead!" On Foul balls.....

PU Takes his mask off with his RH, then shift it to his LH before making calls....

Drove my SWMBO nuts that I was noticing that stuff.... Our friends got a kick out of it too!

I don't yell "dead" at those type of plays.  I call foul.  I'm sure everyone would look at me wondering what I was talking about if I said "dead" on that play.

One of the goofiest softball mechanics is the PU taking fair/foul all the way to the fence, even with an umpire on the line. I flipped by the SEC tournament on one of the ESPN channels the other day and there was a screamer hit down the third base line that I'm pretty sure was foul. The PU couldn't have gotten a good look at it considering how fast it was going and how close the base it. He pointed it fair even though U3 was right on top of it.
