wouldnt mind seeing them go to something simular to the NCAA interp where the base is on the ground not floating in mid air...

It's about time professional umpires join in the fun of judging MC. Up until now we lower level umpires were the only ones dealing with this can of worms. The can contains marginal obstruction, marginal unsportmanship, defense initiated collisions, offense initiated collisions, and good old fashion baseball "train wrecks"  with hits that any football linebacker would be proud of.

 

In a year where IR is supposed to fix umpire mistakes, its good to see that they'll have something controversal to replace them with.

They should be talking to the NCAA and FED on their collision rules.

I imagine son dont you? Especially if it is an important run and a collision is treated like we treat MC that it would include an ejection.

doesn't matter how general managers vote if players block it for 2014, but apparently they cannot block in 2015, so that could give it another year to try and work out as many scenarios as possible before implementation.

they already have big time changes on IR for this year so collisions and their blow back will really cause some major upheavals at times. Could also give another year for how to implement IR for all the collision decisions if they put it off for another year.

That is a good point. IR will be a big enough PITA this season. Imagine having to add a MC type call to it as well.
