Sorry guys 'n gals, but several of you may have noticed over time that I am a proud Marine Corps veteran.  When I run across articles like this, I just have to share them.  I'm sure that most of you will enjoy this ALMOST as much as I did.

Assailant suffers injuries from 'fall'

AUGUSTA, GA - Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta, Ga. told police he observed a customer, later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta, on surveilance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket.  When confronted the man became irate, knocked down an employee, drew a knife and ran for the door.

Outside on the sidealk were four Marines collecting toys for the Toys for Tots program.  Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of them, Cpt. Phillip Duggan, in the back; the injury did not appear to be severe.

After police and an ambulance arrived at the scene, Cpt. Duggan was taken for treatment.

"The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs, multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw ..... injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off the curb after stabbing the Marine," according to a police report.

TH, I'm sure there were a few embelashments in that article.  However, I'd be willing to bet that 'ol Tyrone was most likely transported to the hospital first.

well, ...actually, ..... no ..... from the Snopes page:

None of the news accounts we examined indicated that Attaway was injured, either while being subdued or afterwards. That bit appears to be pure invention on the part of the person who inserted the additional paragraph into the news account, thereby transforming it into a "Don't mess with the Marines" object lesson.

Nonetheless, there are some dangerous kerbs out there: some are extra high and aide a stumble if you're not paying attention. Also with it being winter for you northern hemisphere people, the possibility of ice and snow making it slippery adds extra hazards. Have a safe Christmas and watch out for falls, trips and slip hazards!
