MLB Umpire Wally Bell Dead at 48

Living in Ohio we are pretty fortunate to have the number of professional umpires we have who come from our state. The example they set works its way down the ranks, when an MLB or MiLB guy walks into your HS Association meeting even the 'screwups' (excuse the language) who never listen to anything you say sit up a little straighter and at least listen. The brotherhood lost a good one,

 

He grew up 30 minutes form my boyhood home. I pray for grace for his family.

Very true.  My particular association's meeting are very dull for the most part, but it's really great to have the privilege to hear the stories these guys bring us.

I'm at John Hirschbeck's screw back in 2011 and Wally was the only person I didn't get a chance to meet....
