Certainly not new to the umpiring world, but was a watcher of the site before I finally hopped on the bandwagon. 21 year old umpire hoping to go far in pro baseball. Going to Windelstedt school this upcoming January and hope to start my career there! Other than that I've been doing 9-15 year old travel baseball games, and started umpiring High School baseball last season. Hoping to learn a lot here, specifically a day in the life of a professional umpire.

Welcome! I'll be at TUS in January and hope to see you at PBUC if we can both make it! Don't be afraid to ask questions on here... people are generally pretty good at responding quickly with some help.

for the vast majority of us, its the time away from our "regular jobs"or family responsibilities (5 weeks+) that keep us from the full pro school........but not from high level clinics that are considerably shorter but provide that level up to make you a better umpire...

clinic costs and the associated travel are to me like quality gear.............you get what you pay for....

In my association, when we are looking at pulling up an umpire to do higher levels we assess whether or not they are "invested" in umpiring..........how do you judge investment?.......meeting attendence, clinic attendence, educational opportunities sought, game managment skills, meeting uniform standards, proper gear, committment to the schedule, (includes the travel needed to do that circut).... ok so where do you go to learn or be exposed to these things?...........yup..higher level education.............
