Had this play today in the regional playoffs. R1. BR bunts and runs outside the running lane, getting hit by the throw from the catcher. What do you do with R1? Is he allowed to stay at 2B, or does he come back to 1B?

Correct. Exactly what we did. Of course had to explain it but not much fuss.

If regional playoffs means HS then R1 stays at the base occupied at the time of interference.  That could be second. 

 

Now that said that's the rule and it will have to be obvious that he was already at second or Im sending him back.
