Can you do an MLB crash the catcher in PONY?

No they didn't but at Jimurray says, call it USC and eject them. LL has the same problem, they don't have a malicious contact rule, simply  an USC rule. I say call it and I can't imagine anybody being dumb enough to protest it. It should be fun having them justify to the board why knocking a kid halfway across the field at a youth level isn't wrong.

 

But LL does have:

 

"Rule 7.08 - Any runner is out when-

 

(a)(3)the runner does not slide or attempt to get around a fielder who has the ball and is waiting to make the tag;"

LL requires the fielder not only to have the ball, but be turned to make a tag (waiting). If those conditions aren't met, and the defender gets steamrolled, UC can be called, but the run still counts. (A gapping hole in the LL rules).

 

I've seen this happen in a Juniors game, where the catcher was decked as he went up for the ball. The runner was ejected, and called out. The O manager protested it, and won. There's no wording to call him out for this, unless you try to stretch an INT call, if you have other runners on base.

Steamrolling the catcher. Why does everyone always blame the runner. The catcher's on the tracks with the train coming. Unless he meets requirements for being on the tracks whose fault is it?
