The plate umpire could maybe help if the tag is in your field of vision, but don't go out of your way to observe that touch - your primary responsibility is R3's tag up.

 

One thing I'd add to this - and that blue23ll alluded to - is that I would not go immediately to 3BLX when this ball is hit.  Go to POP and work from there; that way, you might be in a better position to help U1 (if necessary) on the tag-up at 1B.  Don't get me wrong, it's still U1's responsibility and his call, but anything you can do to help without ignoring your own responsibilities is a good thing.

 

I see that there was an imminent play at the plate, but even going back fairly deep from POP when the ball is hit, you have plenty of time to get back to either 3BLX or 1BLX to call that play.

You have a runner on 3rd tagging, you have to line up that tag.  You have to work towards the 3rd base on deck circle to line up the fly ball to left and R3's tag.  From there you can give a glance to see if R1 tags as you start back to the plate.
