Visiting the other websites it appears that the world is near an end. Why do I say this? Because I see more and more posts from scorebook toters trying to either tell us how we need to do our job or trying to add something else for us to do that should be their job. Anyone else?:stir

I have seen some of that. I don't care who wants to know how something should be ruled, coming up with BS duties I have a problem.

Look over in the NFHS site and you will see some of the things that Ump45 is talking about. There is a certain poster over there that appears to be a scorekeeper wanting umpires to do his job as far as recording the final score in a database of some sort, among other things

 He is also on the umpire.org website. It is funny how some people think because they associate with certain people or post on certain websites that they are "buddies" now. Guys we are a brotherhood. We treat people with respect until they loose that right. What this is doing does not show us respect. Like ms said if he wants to know about rules or menhanics great. I will help all day long. But add bs on to our job. Sorry ain't gonna happen!

I'm going to be honest. I don't agree with what the guy is saying.

However, if my association says we have to start getting the scores and putting them in Arbiter, I'm going to do it. Why? Because I love umpiring. If I refuse to do it, then I won't have an umpiring job for long. Around here, if I'm not a part of my association, I'm not getting too many games on my own. If taking 5 minutes every evening is what it takes, I'll do it.

Call me a yes-man.

 I agree guys. I never said I wouldn't do it. What I took offense at was a "clipboard totter"(?) telling us we need to be doing something. Then when he is told that it is not ouir job or shouldn't be part of our job he says we should do it because we are getting paid to umpire. If NCHSAA tells us to do it I will. But there comes a time where as a collective group, BROTHERHOOD, we need to draw the line. If I don't work the games because of this then, yes, someone will come in behind me and work them. In my group we call them "game whores". Or could be called "scab".

Many of the tournaments that I work require us to keep score, some even want pitching innings. It is a major pain. UIC's buddy is famous for it.

What he was suggesting was we turn scores in to Arbiter to another sister system could track stats and rank players. That is a job for coaches, period.
