as for vanity plates ive never been a big fan for umpires.........probably not a good idea to call out your vehicle to irate fans.....I do have a good buddy who has "lv to ump" and he hasnt had any ill effects.............the only one I would consider is "901 C" ............only the educated would get that......

I'm not a fan either.

For the obvious reason of possibly making yourself a target and also because I subscribe to the "don't draw attention to yourself" philosophy of umpiring.

As long as you don't screw up on the field, ...what difference does your license plate make?

Perfect as we may try to be, one day you may eject a kid and that jerk kid may seek out your car and do damage to it. It actually happened to a member in our association. The PU ejected a kid in a game. The BU, who had shirts hanging in the backseat, found his car vandalized after the game.

1) see Forrest Ump's reply

and

2) I guess the other part is philisophical - to each his own - to me, I still like the "anonymous" mode.

Maybe it's just my local experiences, but the few people I know with Umpire Vanity plates (and one with a Huge "Ump on Board" window decal  ) are the ones that always come up with questionable ejections, obscure rule enforcements, etc. - OK, not always, but you get my drift...;)

Hey, if you see that plate again, call the law. That's my car, somebody stole it.

I guess I'm stupid, I'm not getting that one.

Don't worry I am stupid also!
