Morning all, My name is Bryan, I'm 38 and Live in a nice little town called Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. I enjoy long walks on the beach and romantic....er... wrong website. Sorry guys and gals, my bad. Anyhow, I am in my 4th year umpiring, I have mostly worked minor ball (9 to 21 years old) but expanded into some adult leagues last year and this year I am calling a lot of games in those leagues. I can't throw a ball, catch a ball or even really hit a ball, but I do love baseball and this was my in. My daughter (13 at the time) had gotten into umpiring and I thought it might be a good idea to get involved as well. I came in as your typical "sandlot understanding parent" which is to say I knew nothing of the intracasice of baseball. I printed off the rules from the MLB website, the local association rules and made it my mission to become the best umpire I could be. I do have an obsessive/compulsive streak in me that seeks perfection, which means I did learn fast. I also learned making a few mistakes, some larger than others (the biggest was dropping an F bomb at a coach who had been arguing with me loud enough for most everyone in the area to hear). I take umpiring very seriously, I love it and my only complaint is we only have from May to September (the range most leagues play in) to call games.
