All ...

We always talk about cleaning our shoes and keeping them 'game-ready', but...what about off-season shoe care??

What do you guys do with your shoes as they 'sit' over the winter, etc ??

Same as I do in-season. Clean them with Murphy's mixture, give them a good polishing, a healthy spray of febreeze inside, put in the shoe trees and put them up.

Between games in-season I use the Murphy's/hairspray routine but every couple weeks (or when I have time) they get a dose of some good shoe polish.

It may seem like kind of a silly post, but it may be very useful. I was actually thinking of some sort of conditioner maybe, something to keep them soft, and then like bikerider said, shoe trees, then on the shelf for a long (short hopefully) winter's nap :)

They are just a pair of shoes, that's all. Mine get put in the gear bag (once cleaned up) with my base shoes and all my other gear and everthing sits in the garage all winter...

As an aside, you should put shoe trees in them whenever they are not on your feet, not just when they are put away for the winter. Most of the damage will happen to them when they are wet/dirty (like right after a game) so this is the best time to put a shoe tree in so they keep their shape.

I found a great deal on wilson shoe trees on amazon.com earlier this year. While my partners make fun of me, my shoes from both Baseball and Football season still look brand new and have kept their shape very well.

Probably my best accessory purchase of the year.
