The title clues you all in.....Last week in the divisional series did anyone else hear Joe Morgan explaining the check swing call?...

We all know Joe is no rules expert, but the nugget he dropped just stunned me....

"In determining whether or not a batter swung at a pitch, the position of the ball is taken in account...."

I have never....ever let the position of the ball determine if a batter swung at a pitch....

any thoughts?...........(other than muzzle morgan?)

I really would like to see some announcers writers etc have to go through a basic rules clinic to know what the heck they are talking about. In looking for information on Derryl Cousins his CP and condition. I probably read more things saying he was hit with a foul tip. I've got news for you, if an umpire gets hit, its not a foul tip.

Martinez went up a notch for me.with his comments .........sager...well...:)

as far as morgan, He-who-shall-not-be-named, cornheiser and vitale........

I would watch with the sound down if that "dream team" ever came to be....

As a Redskins fan, I use to watch the game with the TV on mute and turn on the radio and listen to "Sunny, Sam & Frank." It took some getting use to the differences in the delay when watching vs listening, but it was much better than the TV guys. And even though they were "Homers" they were harder on the skins than anybody else could be. Now I moved just out of the radio signal, but hardly watch pro football any more.

Let it determine the call? No. Take it into consideration? You bet. Since it is a determination whether or not the batter attempted to hit the ball, the ball is a relevant part of the analysis.
