Last night. Working the plate, Ban Johnson game, KC area (Johnson Co. KS). For those who don't know, college wood bat league. Very good baseball. Foul ball directly to my face, titanium low profile. Loooooooose harness, mask drops directly to the dirt. Didnt feel a thing. No Ill effects. Everyone thiinks I need time. Nope. All the energy dissipated through mask and it's movement. No dents. (knock on wood). No headaches. I am thankful to whoever I first heard to wear mask harness loosely from years ago. One of the best tips I ever read on a forum.

On the other hand, my partner in a 15s game last Saturday, took similar foul directly to mask and had to sit on backstop wall for a second or two and kept shaking his head and had a headache after game. His mask harness was snuuuug! ( Think Ron White the standup comedian's voice from a bit he does about ever taking a dump so big his pants fit better.....lmao)

My two cents.......

I took one directly in the face a few nights ago and still have a headache. It mashed in the top bar slightly on my Wilson Chrome Moli mask. 70 mph at the most. The catcher didn't get any leather on it at all. Should I get a new mask? It is slightly over a year old.

I also wear my straps loose.

if the mask'doesn't have any major damage like broken welds keep it and use it. i myself are a quasy equipment junkie. i've taken quite aa few shots to the face either uncaught or fouled off. i have the diamond ix3 which is a great mask but whats just as good are the team wendy pads with it. i believe the pads are more important than the mask. the light weight of the ix3 helps for the long days. good luck.

I took another screaming shot to the face mask today too. I use a Wilson Dyna Lite with Team Wendy's pads. Just a thump, no pain or anything. After several of those shots this year so far, the Wendy's have far surpassed my expectations. Don't leave home without em!

Umm YES! Two-day headache and a bent mask from a 70 MPH (at best) fast ball? I'd say you should look into other options. Wouldn't want to be working with a defected mask. Consider a new mask and invest in some good pads (Team Wendy's). I do not personally have them but hear nothing but best about them, and as soon as Honig's has the tan ones back in stock I plan on purchasing!
