I know it is early, but, who is signed up for, planning on, or, thinking about attending the Southern Umpires Camp in Feb. 2011?

Dates are now confirmed as Feb. 10-13

For those of you who have been to the Southern Camp. Are there extra expenses at the camp? ie. Video, books, shirts, etc?

There will be extra expenses. Don't quote me on the prices.

The mandatory one is lunch. I believe it was $21. You are not allowed to leave for lunch so if you are going to eat you're going to eat the lunch they bring. Sandwiches chips and a drink.

They give you your t shirt for free.

You have the option of getting a video which I believe was $40.

You can get pictures with the class the MLB guys and all the instructors.

A Gerry Davis Rep comes down and has some incredible deals.

Friday night is a live auction with some great umpire memorabilia. The money goes to charity and they raise a lot.

Saturday night is a raffle once again some great things available. I just so happened to win the grand prize BOTH at the International camp in 2009 and Southern Camp in 2010.

Other than that you will need money for dinners drinks.

Tony also offers a lot of other camp merchandise for sale.

Oh don't forget you need to pay for your hotel too.

I'll be glad to answer any other questions any of you may have.

Thanks Warren. That Helps.

They do have a different camp rate for Out of Towners that includes the Hotel.

If you want a single room its an extra 125.00 payable at registration.

Their price for the hotel is very good. I looked around for other places and that is the best one so far.

If anyone on here can get any special discounts on hotels and would like to share them let me know!!

See you there Jax...

Those of us on here that are going should have got together and created the UEUA (Umpire-Empire Umpires Association) and applied for a discount for the camp :hi5:

You have an idea. There's enough of us going to Mid-American that we could have qualified.

Warren? :HS

I don't know whats involved in having/running an association but its a thought. Even if we don't work games as an association. We can still be an association were Umpires get together here on this Forum to discuss Umpire stuff. :HS

I can charge you all dues if you'd like and call it an association, just good luck getting assigned games.

I am willing to pay something as long as the money went to your Giving Back in 2010 Challenge!

Either this, or to first offset hosting costs. Anything left gets added to the challenge.

Then again, Warren could FIRST become a 501©, THEN charge us the "association fee". Now, we're not only offseting hosting charges, but we're giving to a charity, too!

While the site has yet to tund a profit and I'm about to pour some more into it for the upgrade that I'll be doing this fall/winter. It's a fun hobby and an expansion of my umpiring.

But about a year ago I leased my own server and started doing some web development and hosting to cover the costs of Umpire-Empire.

If you or someone you know needs a website you can check me out here www.workmanwebsolutions.com.
