This is only my second full year of doing high school games, but I've gotten to call parts of two different district tournaments this week, including a Class 2 district championship tonight where I had the plate.

V15 gets called out on strikes. As he walks back to the first base dugout, he turns and starts running his mouth. Something to the tune of "That wasn't even close". I warn him and tell him I've heard enough out of him. I turn back toward the field, but as he gets to the dugout he deep-sixes his bat, which gets my attention. (Dugouts are pretty close to the plate at this field) He turns around and yells to the next batter "Hey make sure you swing if it's within a foot". "Time", mask off...."15, you're done"....Whooosh!

The Visitor's first baseman also got his foot stepped on during a play at first during the next inning, so naturally they wanted an ejection, which didn't happen. His dad ended up walking on the field after the game to try and talk to me and one of my partners as we walked off, but the site administrator (Who was the host school's HC) cut him off and got rid of him. Quite an eventful night.

Legit EJ. But I would probably let the mouthing off go as long as there was not something personal or excessively loud. When he chucked the bat he'd be done. One or the other by itself okay but combined is too much.

Well put. I think when mouthed off to the on-deck batter, that;s when the string would have been pulled for me.

Still waiting on my first (that isn't a bulldogging play).

I had my first ej last evening. It's a JV game, last game of the season. I'm BU, runner attempting to steal second. I call him out. He argues there was no tag and I repeat my out call. As I'm turning away to trot back to my position, I hear "F**** That!". Goodbye. First ej ever.
