For those who do PONY in the spring/summer they have posted the baseball rule changes for 2012. Very interesting.

I've done PONY game, on and off, for years. Their lack of rules expertise is legendary. They're always one step behind Little League, and try to catch up with just some dumb wording. I swear they write these thing when they're loaded.

Page 15 (new entry) – Rule 8 C (2) Equipment: Only 2-1/4†barrel non-wood bats which are manufactured to achieve a

Bat Performance Factor (BPF) of 1.15 or less through the life of the bat are approved for play in PONY Baseball divisions.

Effective January 1, 2012, all newly manufactured non-wood bats must be stamped “approved for play in PONY

Baseball†and stamped with “BPF 1.15†and the year manufactured.

Now somehow we're supposed to know which bats are newly manufactured. Do bats now come with some sort of freshness sticker? That's fine all bats made next year actually say 2012, but what about the 4 year Combat B1 bazooka? How is an umpire supposed to know if it's legal or not.

Metal bats, to my knowledge, have not been through any sort of advanced break in testing. Just the carbon bats that are either BBCOR, or are on Little League's list of approved bats. So PONY just banned all metal bats. Brilliant!

Kyle it's not that they are behind LL, they just try to stay inline with pro rules as much as possible. And yes it looks like they screwed the pooch on the bat rule. Hopefully they will have it ironed out by the start of the season. They are just like every other organization...the coaches decide on rules and changes. As far as I know no one represents the umpires at PONY.

Kyle, don't get your panties in a wad! It looks like they are talking about 2 different bats. BBCOR bats and bats other then BBCOR. I sent an email to PONY and will update as soon as I receive something.

Are there any 2 1/4" BBCOR bats?
