Anyone tried the Nutty Buddy?

Had a fellow umpire tell me about this product. I checked out the website and its clearly obvious after watching the video that the man stands behind his product. Wondering if anyone has tried this and how it fits compaired to other standard cups/jocks. A no brainer investment for any plate umpire. NuttyBuddy.com

Everybody that has tried it that I know about have all loved it except one. I haven't tried it but I really haven't heard bad things. I believe the one desenter was on here so maybe he will step in. I believe his complaint was it moved too much which is what most guys rave about, not moving that is. :shrug:

The Major, I don't recall, but I had a dissenting view of the thing. In fact, these were my exact words to the gal at NuttyBuddy: "If this thing cost me ten or twelve, I wouldn't even think of returning it, but for twenty-eight, I'll even return a cup."

I only tried it on and tried to do a little T.V. practice, and it never made its way out of the living room. Its "anatomically correct" shape and the way it fits make it dig into each leg in a way that makes it uncomfortable to walk, run, squat or stand. So the main reason the protective cup is traditionally shaped the way it is--without the two protrusions seen on the NuttyBuddy--is because the traditional design allows it to fit better between the legs.

I also prefer the shock-absorbing effects of the newer gel cups. The NuttyBuddy's rim is solid and doesn't flex at all. The flex cup I now use behind the plate is the Shock Doctor stainless steel one with the gel border. I took a major shot to the jewels, the worst ever, perhaps (plus fastball fouled straight down and up directly into the jewels) and all it did was ring. Outstanding injury protection for the jewels--no ache at all--but a ring to the thing like I can't describe. (The ringing was over well before the catcher returned from talking about chicks with the pitcher.)

The all-steel NuttyBuddy is what made me try the traditionally shaped steel ShockDoctor. Wow! I'll never go back there without it--or until they come up with something even better.

So, from here, NO to the very expensive NuttyBuddy, and YES to the somewhat expensive, but well worthwhile, stainless steel Shock Doctor flex cup.

I have it and I don't like it. I have yet to find a cup that stays put. I will give it a try again next season with a different set-up in undergarmets...I would like it to work. It was not cheap!

One thing that the NuttyBuddy requires is the wearing of a jock, which is something everyone should consider for any cup. The jocks that are available today are so comfortable that discomfort's no longer a factor. (I prefer the UA jock with a gel cup---very comfortable.)

I swear by compression leggings. I wear them for the plate and the bases, along with neoprene braces as needed. And I also wear hexpad leggings on top of those when I work the plate. But I have worn my cup with a jock for a few years now, rather than in the cup pocket of the leggings. It's significantly safer. A recent experience drove that home, so to speak.

I purchased a nuddy buddy and I love it. To me, it is extremely comfortable and stays in place. I have more confidence in its protection than in any other cup I have worn. I believe if you check the equipment review forum you will find some more detailed reviews.

I use a pair of Champion briefs over spandex and the nutty buddy stays in place. Have done this for 2 seasons. You can also do this with the other banana stlyle products....:rollinglaugh:
