Great review.. I would get a shock FX, but I really don't like how it looks.. I've always like the look of the allstar helmet.

Nate-

Thanks for the kudos. Unfortunately, I'm afraid my photography skills may have misrepresented the new Shock FX 2.0. Here is a couple professional photos:

First the Wilson

And the All-Star

Ump-Attire is selling the Wilson for $219.95.

Lester's Upstate is selling the All Star for $370!!!

I still can't figure out why the All Star is so expensive. What am I missing?

Sorry about the size issues with the photos.

Honigs sells the All Star masks for much cheeper than Lester's Sports does, $200 cheeper:

Great review Pete. Thanks!

One of the All-Star helmets is a Titanium cage, probably the one on Lester's site for $370. The one for $170 at Honigs is the hollow steel cage. With that said, I agree that $370 is way steep for that helmet.

Awesome review! The more I read about the 2.0 the more and more I want it!

Nate, I didn't like the look of the old Shock FX mask either.

But it looks to me like Wilson is going more toward that All-Star look.

One is on my wish list right now!

I did not like the look of the older shock either, but I wore it because of the field of vision, ventilation, and protection.

The newer model achieves all of my wants with the added benefit of a better look. It has a longer profile and feels better when it is worn. They changed the placement of some of the padding to make it more comfortable. Extending and re-shaping the cage makes the mask feel more substantial. I was always worried about what a chin shot would do to my old shock...now if the rain will ever stop i might get to wear the new one before spring. One more shot next week. Right now I just look like Darth Vader walking around the house. My two-year old loves to wear it and pretend she is Daddy umpiring.

Ok sure I see the difference now. Thanks
