MLB network showed the ejection and the series of pitches but did not show Manny turning around to mouth off to Eddings.

I'd bet it's as much for mouthing off as it is for tossing his helmet.

Well... how else is he going to be out on the field between innings if he's not a part of what's already going on (e.g., hey- an UMPIRE!) If they just grab some fan out of the stands.... well so what? Nothing funny there.

Guys - baseball at this level is entertainment. Personally, I'm glad I don't take myself (nor this poorly paid avocation) so seriously as not to be able to enjoy a gag like this.

The San Diego chicken used to do stuff like this on a regular basis with the REAL umpires... and they were always in on the schtick - it was always planned ahead of time.
