Being so new to umpiring, what video would you guys suggest for learning proper two man mechanics. I have enjoyed this so much that I really want to get better and possibly get into doing high school games. I know that I will want to attend some camps and clinics, but for now what videos would be the best and where could I buy/order them from.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure about videos but check Youtube.com, there are many entries on there. I would suggest searching it but post links here so we can advise for accuracy. There are some idiots out there that should never claim to be an umpire.

Yawetag, thanks. That video is very helpful, simple and to the point. Thanks again.

Not a problem. It's what I used my first year in high school ball, and it helped. However, make sure your organization and partner use the same mechanics.

There are several mechanics books that I would suggest as well. However, it should match what your organization uses. Mine uses the "red book," or "Manual for the Two Umpire System." It's sold by PBUC (the corporation that oversees minor league umpires), and it's a great resource. When I first got it, I read it daily. Now, I'll skim it after a game with a questionable mechanic, as well as skim it every month or so.

I Iike the Virtual Umpire Camp. It is cheap and has lots of content. I own the Umpire Teacher and Arizona Umpires DVD's as well, but VUC, while dry, is well organized and presented in short, two minute lessons.

The flash vid files make it easy to put them on your phone and watch them anywhere.

How does everyone feel about these? http://www.umpiretea...uctcatalog.html I am getting ready to order the 2 umpire system and maybe one or both the strike vidieos.

IMO, these are a necessary evil. They are not that good, but they are really cheap and you get a lot for the money you spend. I find them hard to watch after watching Jim Evans and other more professional videos. I really wish JEA would publish A companion series to "Maximizing", but until then these UT vids will have to do.

Most of what Bugsy teaches is really good info. It's just hard to take it seriously because it seems like he made the vids in one afternoon.
