What you describe is the start of a pitch, so it's a balk. Once engaged (in the windup), he must step back with the pivot foot before any other movement.

We were discussing CI, not plays at first or foul balls (although you should see foul balls as well). CI should be seen, but you guys listen all you want. If you hear a CI without seeing it, you blinked.

If I'm a coach and you tell me you "heard" CI..... I'm going to have a field day with that one. You need to "see" the bat make contact. What else are you looking at?

Bingo! The key is reading the play, not assuming anything. And, hey, I'm 43 and I can still out run 'em!

True - on a naked triple, the BU has it all the way. Taking a play at third with multiple runners ALWAYS depends on the play itself. Remember to pause, read and react. If you over commit to early, and then have a non-quality throw, then you are at fault. Let the play develop, read the throw, and then step into position. It's all about timing.

As PU in this situation, I will come up the line and watch the play develop. If we have a fly ball and a possible tag up situation at third, I'll move up the line, read the play, and take the tag up at third if this develops. As I come into position, I let my BU know with "I have third IF he tags". This is an advance mechanic. And, on a slow developing play in the infield where the first play goes to first base, I will come up the line and take the second play at third. Again, you must read the situation and the play BEFORE you commit.

The DH and the catcher are forever locked into their spots in the batting order. Once the DH enters the game, there is no longer a DH. The catcher is now out of the game (but still has re-entry) You would need a straight sub for 3B in the lineup. Hope this helps...

I've used my 995's for a few games and I love them. They are the most comfortable base shoes I've worn yet, and I've worn a bunch... Did you get the low top or mid cut?
