  1. Thanks. I'll let you know if there's anything else I'm lookin to get. It is nice getting stuff, but staying in touch with people back in the "real" world is nice too. Helps keep your sanity a little bit. Haha.
  2. Kind of sounds like a htbt situation, but I would probably have the same call.
  3. Welcome! The guys here are great. Enjoy!
  4. That's true. The first half of this deployment has gone fairly quick. Hopefully the back end will move just as fast. Looking forward to July/August! Back to Germany and then back to the states for a month or so.
  5. Just ordered this book off of amazon.com the other day. Can't wait for it to get here. Should be a good way to kill some time over in Afghanistan!
  6. All I can say to this one is... WOW.. With a criminal record that lengthy how could they overlook it? Just plain stupid..
  7. Thanks for adding that. I was just thinking of minimum requirements for IFF.
  8. It has to be a routine catch for an infielder to have an infield fly. Also R1 and R2 with less than 2 outs. That's why a bunt or a line drive don't qualify. There isn't necessarily a certain height the ball has to go. I've been out of the game for a while, so maybe some others have some input on this subject as well.
  9. It's about time somebody said something about the Yankees and Red Sox pace. It's pretty ridiculous to me when their games are running over 3 hrs 40 mins a piece while the rest of baseball is playing games that are lasting just over 2 hrs 30 mins. Another reason that they could do without the DH rule in baseball. Just sayin..
  10. Definitely. I will take any advice that I can get, especially from quality umps. It was pretty cool that Dave got selected for the LLWS back in 2007 also.
  11. what a piece of work.. it's probably a good thing for everyone that he's not going to be coaching anymore..
  12. talk about a nice pay day!! a lot of work though.. I would probably have been dead by the middle of the day..
  13. Yeah. Dave is a good guy and a good ump. I worked 1 or 2 games with him and played ball with his son. I'll keep an eye out for Rich.
  14. Hey all. My name is Dan and I just found the site. Great setup! I'm 25, originally from Madison, Wisconsin and I'm in my last year in the Air Force currently deployed to Afghanistan. I can't wait until my contract is up so I can get back to umpiring. I umpired Little League games from 13-17. My current goal is to get as many games as I can in 2011 and go to the Wendelstedt Umpiring School in 2012 and see if I can't make it to the bigs!! If that doesn't work out I'll probably keep umpiring as many local games and college games as I can. I love the game and have never really been exceptionally good at it. I got spot role plays on varsity my junior and senior year of high school and haven't picked up a bat or glove since. I'm looking forward to getting back to the game I grew up with and absolutely love. I'm a huge Braves fan and often go to Brewers games whenever I happen to be back in Wisconsin. Great to be here and I look forward to reading the forum posts!!
