HS JV Game

Runners on 2nd and 3rd.

2 outs, Top of 3rd.

Batter hits a liner to the gap in Right Center.

R3 scores easily and R2 is making a full out sprint rounding 3B for home.

F2 is standing in front of the plate at the top of the batters boxes.

There is no play being made on R2 as he comes home and F2 is no where even close to hindering R2 from the plate.

R2 slides into HP, side ways. Feet in fair territory and hand towards the plate.

His body is completely in fair territory.

As he get close to the catcher he "kicks" the legs out from under F2 and takes him down.

I immediately call time.

#32 your out for MC and you are ejected from the game.

VHC comes and asks what happened because he wasn't watching the action at the plate.

I explained it to him and there was no real argument except he wanted the run to count.

No coach he made contact while scoring not after he had scored.

Run does not count.

That's 3 outs and your now on defense.

HHC comes over and says great call Blue. We don't need that type of unsportsmanlike conduct.

The two teams will be playing again Thursday and after losing today's game the visiting team lost their chance to finish in 1st place in their division.

Final score 3-9.

Sounds totally valid to me. There's no need for cheap shots like that.

Retaliation possibilities for Thursday are high. Did you file any report, and will Thursday's crew have a "heads up"?
