All my life I have heard the story of Babe Ruth hitting a "called shot" home run in the 1932 World Series. It was more myth than anything but I just stumbled across some pretty convincing video on YouTube that it really happened.

The video is an audio recording of a radio show that was broadcast just a few days after the Yankees had completed their sweep of the Cubs. The recording was an interview by Rudy Vallee of Lou Gehrig.

Gehrig, the Iron Horse, was the on-deck batter that day and he saw the whole thing. He enthusiastically and sincerely told the story.

It was really cool to hear Lou Gehrig's real voice--it wasn't like Gary  Cooper's voice. Also all my life I have heard that Gehrig and Ruth didn't like each other but they went on a fishing trip together (there were others on the expedition).

Check it out on YouTube.

I didn't identify the video Mr. flyingron. My apologies. The video I was referring to is titled "Lou Gehrig on Babe Ruth's Called Shot." The channel belongs to a writer named Dan Joseph who wrote a biography of Lou Gehrig.

The title of the book is "Last Ride of The Iron Horse." During his research for the book he found the recording of the radio interview. He says that it is the only contemporaneous audio account of Ruth's called shot known to exist.

Thanks for trying to bring the video here.
