What are the base awards after the pitcher throws an attempted pickoff throw on R1 out of play past 1st base?

A)  While still in contact with the pitcher's plate, stepping toward 1st base

B)  After disengaging by stepping backward with the pivot foot

C)  When hopping with both feet, turning and stepping toward 1st base

A) 1 base

B) 2 bases (not on pitcher's plate makes him an infielder)

C) 1 base (this is considered still on the pitcher's plate)

You might find the following mnemonic device to be helpful when it comes to remembering the awards for an errant throw by the pitcher—

One from the rubber, two from the field.
