I was behind the plate for a men's wood bat league game. I called two strikes on a batter, both of which were on the outside corner. The batter turns, takes a step towards me and says very loudly, "Damn blue what do want me to do, hit F*#King lefty?! This is F*#King bullSH*#!" So I tossed him. He then proceeded to kick dirt in my face and tell me to go F*#K myself before storming off the field.

I've been doing this a long time and I've never had dirt kicked in my face before. Not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous he was gonna get physical with me...

That's some pretty lose dirt to get all the way up to your face from way down there.  Unless you are really really short. ;)

I can tell you that if this happened in our local adult league, it would come with a 5-10 game suspension and a zero tolerance policy going forward.  One more ejection for this kind of behavior and the player would have a lifetime ban from the league.

I once played in a 35+ tournament with a guy that was about 6'3" and 230 lbs and looked like an NFL player.  Nice guy. Great teammate.

He was also awaiting trial for threatening to kill an umpire in his home town of Chicago.  He actually said the words, "If you point at me again, I will kill you," in front of about 20 witnesses.  The league's board banned him without any dissenters, and when the official filed verbal threat charges (misdemeanor) every one of the witnesses received a subpoena.

So, I've always kind of dreamed about someone turning around and punching me one day on the ballfield.  I'd gladly take a punch or two or three to own everything he thought he owned.

(I think bluejersey forgot to mention that the batter body slammed him first, THEN kicked dirt in his face.)

I'm 6'1 so I don't think my height played a factor. I was surprised the dirt got up that high myself!

I'm sure he'll be suspended. I sent in my report to the assignor who will forward it to the league so it's in their hands now. Knowing my assignor, anything less than a suspension will not be tolerated.

First thing I learned was to park away from the field and foul balls. The second was when someone approaches you after the game, step back and put your mask back on.

The 3rd was when you hug a pregnant woman and she starts growling, retreat to a safe distance and throw chocolates in her general direction ………
