Quote

AR - The catcher receiving on pitch to a batter in the fourth inning constitutes having caught four (4) innings.  Warm-up pitches do not count, only when the ball is live will the pitches count toward innings caught.

^^^^ This.

Happens all the time... the starting catcher comes out to take the prep pitches while his replacement gears up. Until the ball is in play he/she has not caught any part of the 4th inning.
