New one on me (retouch appeals)

I seldom see retouch appeals  of R3 granted. At the levels I work, the runners are too skilled to screw this up. Yesterday, we had TWO, by opponents, IN THE SAME INNING (top and bottom)!

Both plays were similar: less than 2 outs, multiple runners, fly balls over an outfielder's head, the runners guess he wouldn't catch it, but he did. With a following runner near or on 3B, R3 doesn't retouch, defense appeals.

One was a 4th out appeal. The visitors appealed R2 first, live ball, for the third out. R3 had scored by the time of the appeal. Coach came out and said, "he never tagged up either!" So I called time and asked, "Coach, are you appealing the runner from third?" He said, "Yes!" And I granted the appeal and announced that no run scored.

I thought that the OHC would kill one or more of his players, as he had been trying to redirect everyone during play. He didn't say anything to me.

Weird.
