I've been looking for new bags and I want something smaller than the 36" Diamond that I currently have. I would keep my Diamond but the zippers for the bottom compartment have come off track so I can't close it anymore. The top zipper isn't far behind I'm afraid.

I have been looking at the Force 3 and these eBags. I like the Force 3 but the bottom section is really shallow and there is no pocket on the end like the Diamond has. I started looking at the eBags and I see there are two choices:

The etech looks bigger, but the TLS claims to have about 800 more cubic inches of space. Has anyone here used both of these? I'm wanting to use the code posted above because it brings these bags more in line with the other umpire bags cost-wise, and they have the lifetime warranty.

As you know, I have the TLS.  It takes some getting used to and I'm not sure I'm completely used to it yet.  I have my gear on top and clothes on the bottom.  I've only used it twice - once over the summer and yesterday.  I worked the bases yesterday so I didn't have to take out/repack the gear, but everything (CP, guards, mask, plate shoes) fits in the top.  There is a small zippered area where I keep my mud, but I could also put some other smaller items in there.  There are 2 side zippered areas.  Right now I have hats in one of them and nothing in the other...thinking that will be for cold weather stuff when that time comes.  The bottom I have in 3 compartments - 2 for clothes & base shoes, 1 for belt & toiletries.  There are also 2 zippered areas on the top of the bottom compartment.  I have my satchels, brush, indicator and lineup card holder in one and additional hats in the other.

When next season approaches, I'll probably streamline what I need for each game...I'll only pack the hat I need instead of 4-5 hats, only take the minimum # of jerseys, etc.  That should help.

Obviously there's no room for my back-up gear...oh wait...I don't have any back-up gear.

When they first came out, Honig's bag was the original Force3 bag.  It was adequate, but I got soured pretty quick because the first games I had that year were in Las Vegas and the airline ripped the zipper on the bottom compartment and no one - the airline or Honig's would replace the bag.  With eBags, I've been told their replacement policy is very simple and there are no hassles.  Your bag breaks, they replace it.  That's why I went with them.

And, you should use a code I sent you so I get referral points.

I have the eTech one and really like it. I switched from the Force3 bag. Zippers are much better and the warranty is great.

I have all my gear in the top CP, Shins, HSM, and Traditional mask. In the bottom I put my base and plate shoes and hats. I have never tried to put my uniform in the bottom since I hang them, but with some rearranging I could.

I've had the eTech for almost 2 years now and it has held up pretty well. I've only taken it for umpire purposes on 2 flights and I had it completely stuffed. Compared the larger WIlson/Diamond/Champro bags the eTech is seems pretty small but you should be able to fit all of your gear and accessories in without issue.

For the large majority of my games I operate out of my car and I keep the bag in there for the whole season. For some larger tournaments we have changing rooms which permit me to utilize my motherlode and it works out well. Like Slo, I have all of my uniforms hung and pressed on hangers which will travel on the outside of the bag.

I'd strongly suggest the eTech and since purchasing it, I have purchased additional eBags branded bags for my own travels, I would strongly suggest their eBags crew cooler if anyone is interested in a well constructed and well designed cooler with a lifetime guarantee.

I was going to but SJA posted the one above that is 25% off so it makes the bags $149.99 now. Hard to beat that.

I got the cooler this summer. I love it.

It looks like the TLS is expandable, so that is the difference in cubic inches. The etech just looks bigger in the pictures.

Got the TLS late last week. Packed most of it over the weekend. Mask, CP, shin guards, both pair of shoes, and two bottles of cleaning supplies all fit in the top section. Bottom section has heavy jacket, several shirts, two pair of pants, lots of undergarments, hats, toiletry bag, belt, and cup with plenty of room to spare. Gloves went in one side pocket, indicators/brushes/lineup holders in the other side pocket. Gallon Ziplock with some other miscellaneous supplies went in the front/end pocket. The bag has plenty of room, you just have to pack it right. The orange interior is great too.

Rolling clothing is a great way to save space by the way.
