Play at plate

@BaltimoreUmpire

Physically part of the plate, but it really just anchor/holds the white slab which is the rule shaped marker per 1.05

Have you ever seen a real plate out of the ground?

[BaltimoreUmpire]

I have only seen them on the field here the black is always visible

Weighs about fourty pounds, and none of the black is legally part of the plate and should be level with the ground not visible.

(I understand where you are coming from. Not many youth fields use them so they are never set right)

Mother of pearl those are huge, although one of our fields has to have the plate adjusted after a play, it slides away

Its a safety edge.

Should be beveled so players sliding in do not hit a WHITE ,flat edge.
